Privacy Policy

The short version

Emet sets no advertising trackers and does not sell or share personal information. You can use the whole site without an account. If you choose to make one, the only personal information we hold is your email address and the list of things you asked to follow — and you can delete both, permanently, from your account page at any time. We collect the minimum needed to run a search engine, accept gifts, and send the emails you asked for, and this page lists all of it.

What we collect

• Search activity. We log the queries people type, how many results they returned, and which result was clicked. These logs are how we learn what people look for and cannot find. They are linked to a temporary session identifier derived from your IP address and browser type that rotates every day; the IP address itself is never stored with your searches.
• Clicks to YouTube. When you follow a “Watch on YouTube” link, we count that click for the church whose sermon it was, so we can tell churches how many viewers Emet sent them. Nothing about you personally is stored with that count.
• Aggregate usage analytics. We use a cookieless analytics service (Vercel Analytics) that reports page views in aggregate. It does not use cookies and does not track you across sites.
• Your account, if you make one. An account stores your email address, the date you created it, and the date you last signed in. There is no password — we email you a sign-in link instead, and those links expire after 15 minutes and work once. We store only a one-way hash of each sign-in link and each session, never the link or session itself.
• What you follow. If you follow a church, speaker, book of the Bible, or topic, we store that choice against your account. We use it to build your “For you” list and, if you opt in, your weekly email. We may tell a church how many people follow it as a number; we never tell anyone who those people are, and your follows are not public.
• Email we send you. Sign-in links and, if you opt in, a weekly summary. These are sent through Resend, which processes your address on our behalf in order to deliver them. You can switch the weekly email off on your account page without deleting your account.
• Server logs. Our hosting provider (Vercel) keeps standard, short-lived request logs, including IP addresses, for security and debugging.

Deleting your account

There is a delete button on your account page. It removes your email address, everything you follow, your weekly email subscription, and every active sign-in session — immediately and permanently, not marked hidden. If you have a paid subscription, we cancel it with Stripe at the end of the period you have already paid for, so a deleted account is never billed again. You do not have to email anyone or explain why.

Search logs and click counts are not linked to your account and are not personal to you, so deleting your account does not remove them; they carry no identifier that points back to you.

Supporter gifts and Stripe

Gifts are processed entirely by Stripe on Stripe’s own checkout pages. Emet never sees or stores your card details. Stripe shares with us the email address you give at checkout, the amount, and the gift’s status, which we use to provide receipts and let you manage or cancel a recurring gift. YouTube API Services

Emet uses YouTube API Services to build its index, and sermon pages play video through the embedded YouTube player. By using Emet you also interact with YouTube, and Google may collect data as described in the Google Privacy Policy. The embedded player is served by YouTube and may set its own cookies under Google’s policies; Emet does not control or read them. Emet stores no personal information obtained through YouTube API Services; the data we store from YouTube is public video metadata such as titles, descriptions, and thumbnails.

Cookies

Emet itself sets no tracking cookies. Third parties we rely on (the embedded YouTube player, and Stripe during checkout) may set cookies on their own domains under their own policies.

Retention

Search logs and click counts are kept as long-term product analytics in aggregate form. Video metadata from YouTube is refreshed on a rolling schedule and removed when the source video becomes private or is deleted.

Who holds your data

Emet is a service of Theproductunicorn LLC, a limited liability company. That company is responsible for the information described on this page, and it is who you are dealing with when you contact us below.

Your choices and contact

To ask what we hold, request deletion, or raise any privacy concern, email info@emetstream.com. Churches can request changes to or removal of their listings at the same address. Start the subject line with “Removal request —” so it reaches the right person quickly. We honor those requests promptly.

Changes

If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it. Material changes will be noted on this page.
